An Insight of Harassment in University Premises
The article is designed to understand the current situation of multiple types of harassment, perceptions, and experiences of students at the university level. This research aims to analyze the consciousness level of students regarding sexual harassment protection bills and policies and to grasp the spectrum of coping strategies that students use to combat harassment by their mentors. Furthermore, supporting factors that worsen the situation of harassment and the aftermaths of this behavior are also studied. Under the study, qualitative research methods i.e., focus groups and in-depth interviews, are applied. Using an interview guide, thirty interviews were conducted while keeping the privacy of respondents in mind. This research reflected that there are many grey areas where we need to pay attention, especially in educating students to combat harassment. Giving education and training is not utterly satisfying. Modern times require bold attitudes and actions against sexual harassment on university premises.
